David N. Ampong, ANP, PMHNP-BC
David provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment for a myriad of mental health issues. He is an expert in the use of approved FDA innovative treatments for substance use disorders, alcohol use disorders, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and many other severe mental illnesses. David is a practitioner who bridges the gap between practice and researcher. He is among the few practitioners in Alaska who use approved FDA pharmacogenomics biomarkers to make clinical decisions for patients. He also utilizes innovative treatment like NS-bridge for opioid detoxification.
David is a full-time faculty member at the University of Alaska Anchorage and teaches both in the graduate and undergraduate nursing program. His philosophy in teaching is individualizing teaching to the needs of each student, and he brings this philosophy into his practice.
David has published and presented pharmacogenomics and addiction medicine locally, nationally, and globally in some of the top annual medical conferences, such as ISPN, APNA, etc.
David sees both adolescents and adults, ranging from 13years old to 70-years and above.
David is married with three children living abroad. He frequently travels to visit his family and goes on vacation across the globe with his family. He likes running, jogging, sight-seeing, going for movies, eating outside, playing soccer, table tennis, volleyball, swimming, hiking, fishing, traveling, and trying new adventures.
